How?

The Crockery:

We have chosen the following cities to include in this project:

  • Lübeck, Germany
  • Hamburg, Germany
  • Cologne, Germany
  • Dortmund, Germany
  • Braunschweig, Germany
  • Skane, Sweden
  • Visby, Sweden
  • Gdańsk, Poland

Each city has been carefully chosen due to its historical significance within the Hanseatic League. The eight different cities span over three different European countries, and have played an integral part in the building and maintaining of the Hanseatic League.

Based on each of these cities’ unique history and atmosphere our ceramics artist, Robert van Middendorp will make a unique piece of crockery. Each piece of crockery will be made with clay sourced from the city itself. In this way, there will be a literal part of the city in the piece itself.

Each piece us designed and will be produced by Robert van Middendorp. The limited amounts of clay, means that we will only produce a limited amount of crockery pieces per city. Each piece of crockery will also be placed in artisanal and intelligently designed packaging.
